SNAP Into Action
Want to bring our tools, software, and resources to your campus or campus food pantry? We would love to hear from you!
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, is a federal government program that provides food-purchasing assistance for low- and no-income people to help them maintain adequate nutrition and health. SNAP is the leading solution to help reduce food insecurity in America.
Approximately 1 in 3 college students are food insecure. While SNAP is a great source of support for food-insecure college students, various barriers make it difficult for them to access assistance from the program. Around 69% of students meeting SNAP income levels do not receive the benefit. This wide gap between those eligible for SNAP and those accessing the benefit is known as the COLLEGE STUDENT SNAP GAP.

Through SNAP Into Action, students work to eliminate the COLLEGE STUDENT SNAP GAP on their campus by creating outreach campaigns encouraging other students to enroll in SNAP. Student leaders use software and automation tools to make it easier and quicker for students to determine eligibility for SNAP and help them through the application process.
