The Student Basic Needs Coalition (SBNC) is excited to announce the launch of our Community College Peer Navigator Program for the upcoming academic year. We are actively recruiting student participants from 15 different community colleges across the country to join this transformative program. This year-long initiative offers a unique opportunity for students to make a meaningful impact on their campuses while earning a $2,000 stipend.
What Is the Peer Navigator Program?
The Community College Peer Navigator Program is designed to empower students to help their peers navigate essential resources, particularly the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). As a Peer Navigator, you’ll work closely with fellow students to raise awareness about available resources, provide support with SNAP applications, and reduce the stigma associated with seeking assistance. By leveraging your lived experiences and connections on campus, you’ll be at the forefront of creating positive change in your college community.
Why Join the Program?
Make a Difference:Â Help fellow students access the resources they need to succeed academically and thrive personally.
Develop Leadership Skills:Â Gain valuable experience in outreach, communication, and advocacy that will enhance your resume and future career prospects.
Earn a Stipend:Â Participants will receive a $2,000 stipend for their year-long commitment to the program.
Build Community:Â Connect with like-minded students across the country who are passionate about social justice and student support.
Calling All Community College Administrators
We need your help to spread the word! If you’re an administrator at a community college, please share this opportunity with your students. This program is an incredible chance for students to gain leadership experience, make a tangible impact on their campus, and receive financial support.
Encouraging your students to apply not only benefits them individually but also strengthens the overall well-being of your campus community. Together, we can ensure that more students have access to the resources they need to succeed in their educational journey.
How to Apply
Interested students should apply here by September 20th. The application process is straightforward, and we welcome students from all backgrounds to apply. We are particularly interested in students who are passionate about social justice, have experience with or interest in SNAP, and are eager to help their peers.
